Good Morning and happy WIAW
Breakfast: I’ve jumped back on the overnight oats bandwagon, and boy do I have a creation for you.
Choco-chia-berry overnight oats!
In this super duper chocolately bowl of goodness went
- 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup almond milk,
- 1/4 cup rolled oats,
- 1 tbsp chia seeds,
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder,
- 2 tbsp chocolate protein powder
- 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
- topped with a teaspoon of almond butter.
Mixed together, placed in the fridge overnight, and voila!
Wow that bowl was amazing. I mean who doesn’t want to feel like they are eating dessert for breakfast?
Note: during christmas season I definitely eat cookies for breakfast..
On a random note, Molly and I took another trip to Costco yesterday and bought a 2lb bag of spinach. It is MASSIVE..it pretty much takes up half our fridge.
After the costco trip I tried to make use of our excess produce by making a huge Salad Beast
In the mix: 2 cups mixed lettuce, 1 cup spinach, 1/2 bell pepper, grape tomatoes, broccoli, leftover spicy peanut chicken, cottage cheese, and mango peach salsa.
Yesterday’s bodyrock was a Fit test to see how much progress you have made from day 1. I forgot to record my fit test day 1, but at least I recorded yesterday’s right?
Here’s what I did
- Squat Jumps (44)
- Push Ups (20 regular, 12 girly push ups)
- Burpees (15)
- high knees (106)
- tuck jumps (20)
- switch lunges (32)
- straight abs (24)
All of these moves are completed for 50 seconds, and the numbers next to them were how many I completed in 50 seconds. I’m pretty sure these numbers are higher than the first time I tried this! Especially the push-ups!
Then I did the following exercises for 2 minutes straight. I went through the circuit twice for a total of 12 minutes..it took me a little longer than 12 minutes though because I took some rest time in between each exercise.
Push up + dip
Push ups w/ side leg
Chest Press (using my makeshift sandbag)
Green Monster time! In the mix: 1 frozen banana, 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 +1/2 cup spinach, 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
I even got Molly to try this and she said it “wasn’t bad” aka she liked it and didn’t want to admit that she liked drinking a green smoothie:)
Last night was Mexican Night! ole ole ole
I made a “skillet mexican chicken” which I wasn’t sure was going to turn out that great but it ended up being delicious! I think I’m going to share the recipe with you later!
We also had homemade guac (courtesy of Molly) and chips and salsa
We did damage on these chips
We were both in a food baby coma after last nights meal..for some reason this always happens to us on Mexican night..maybe we should refrain from buying tortilla chips next time lol
Normally I get hungry again later at night, but I was SO full up until I went to bed
But overall it was a very delicious, and mostly healthy day of eats!
I hope everyone has a great hump day!
Question for ya!: What’s the best thing you’ve eaten recently?
How was everyone’s weekend?
So I’ve decided that aside from Trader Joes, Costco may be my second favorite place on earth, or just second favorite grocery store..favorite place on earth would be some place tropical..take me to a beach NOW, please and thank you
Molly and I went on Friday to stock up on some toiletries, and somehow managed to put way too many items in our cart..WOOPS
Here’s what we got
Pretzels..these may or may not have been my breakfast yesterday morning..or maybe my lunch because I woke up at 12..
frozen berries, and enough chicken to feed a family of 19 people..don’t worry its just Molly and I living here right now
grapes and grape tomatoes
These were by far the highlight purchases..I almost passed out when I saw that the whole almond butter jar was only 5.99!! Normally a small jar of that stuff is like 9 bucks..And the salsa was a free sample impulse buy..p.s. costco samples=awesomeness
We also got other things like toilet paper, cascade, water bottles, diet snapple, etc…and it took us about 3 trips to carry all of the stuff up to our apartment
I do have to show you what I did with the bunch of bananas I bought though
Sliced up, and put in the freezer for smoothie making!
Onto yesterday..As I told you before I woke up at 12..but only because I didn’t go to bed until 4am the
night morning before
And it was just a, um, off day if you will. I met my friend for lunch at panera, and was planning on doing my bodyrock work out but that just didn’t happen
Instead I went to go see the Decendents with my friends..It was my second time seeing it, and I think I liked it better the second time!
After the movie we came back and ate dins
A morningstar veggie burger with salad..I filled up my salad plate a couple more times obvs
After dinner we watched the Pats game..(PATS WON YAY)…I’m kind of a poser but I still have to root for my home team:)
And then we went out to my friends party
Group shot..all the pictures taken last night make me realize how pale I am..ugh.
And finally for breakfast this morning I made myself a delicious egg mcmuffin
Egg whites with goat cheese and raspberry jam, sounds weird, tastes delicious
So, that was my weekend in a nutshell
The only thing on the agenda for today is Bodyrock, which unlike yesterday WILL happen
Question for ya!: What did you do for fun this weekend?
1. Lately I’ve ditched the oatmeal obsession for breakfast and have fallen in love with Greek yogurt combinations
this mornings breakfast was plain greek yogurt with pumpkin butter, almond butter, bluebs, raspberries, and a sprinkle of granola. SO NOM
2. I went to the best place on earth today..aka Trader Joes..here are the goodies I got to bring back to school with me
Protein powder, almond butter with flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pb pretzels, rainbow trail mix, dark chocolate, and pumpkin butter..dear Trader Joe if your reading, please open up shop in Newark, Delaware. please and thank you
3. After my Nanny read my post this morning, she told my mom that she doesn’t want me turning into an anorexic stripper. LOL.
4. Speaking of bodyrock day 3 I was a sweaty mess after about 20 minutes
You can’t really tell..but my head was pretty much soaking wet…looking gooood..
5. This is what happens when you try to do sit-ups and Duke is in the room
it was a little challenging
6. I’ve been guzzling water like its my job lately
Don’t worry we recycle
7. I had full intentions of sharing a recipe with you instead of this random mumbo jumbo
This would be goat cheese hummus..I thought it would turn out amazing..but it was a fail. UGH..don’t you just hate when recipes don’t work out?
8. Last night I passed out at 10, woke up at 2:30am, watched an episode of Chelsea Lately, and couldn’t fall back asleep until 5am. It was extremely annoying.
9. The other day I bought these two books
I’m really excited to try the recipes in the cookbook and share them with you! i normally get annoyed with celebrity trying to be chef cookbooks..but this one looks amazing! And about the Hunger Games..I still haven’t started it but I really want to read it eventually
10. I exchanged a christmas gift from lululemon for this top and I’m obsessed.
I wish lululemon wasn’t so expensive..i’m pretty sure I’m not alone on this thought
So I’m finally home! Yeaaa buddy (jersey shore..no? k..)
It took me 5 and a half hours with stopping! I was jammin out to Glee tunes the whole way obvvvssss
For breakfast I brought overnight oats in a jar with me!
I failed to take a picture of the oats..since driving and eating oats alone is awkward..but they were delishh. I ate half while driving, and half when I stopped to get more coffee..(DEFINITELY NEEDED)..I was on like..5 hours of sleep..I left at 6am to beat traffic..yea.
Once I got home, my mom had chicken noodle soup waiting for me! she’s the best:)
Then I crawled in to bed for a couple hours..planning on taking a nap..but since I’m incapable of napping (or so it feels like) I just watched some tv while duke kept me company:)
At first he was having some difficulty jumping up into my bed..not like he’s a fully grown golden retriever or anything..but after a few tries he made it up!
hes so handsome:)
After a little while I was bored, and decided I would make a trip to Trader Joes for something I’ve been DYING to try since I’ve seen it featured on so many other blogs!
holy. cow. ;LADKSDJF;A I can’t even express to you how good this is..I seriously had to refrain myself from eating the entire thing in one sitting!
I’m contemplating going back to trader joes and hoarding about 20 jars in my cart..the thing is I’m not really kidding.
My mom said we should give this as gifts to family members..umm YA WE SHOULD..after I get my 50 jars worth
I also got other goodies of coursee
I got the following
- baby carrots
- snap peas
- HUMMUS DRESSING
- think thin bars..I haven’t tried these yet but I’ve heard good things
- string cheese
- brie cheese (for my daddy-o)
- brown rice tortillas
- greek yogurt
- cottage cheese
- honey goat cheese!!
- COOKIE BUTTER
- butternut squash
- mini dark chocolate pb cups..cannot wait to try these!
Trader joes has SO many festive items right now! Unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of the chocolate peppermint combination..(such a bummer right?! I feel like I’m seriously missing out)..but the cookie butter in itself is enough for me!
I made myself a little snack-y to prevent myself from eating the entire jar of cookie butter
Roasted garlic hummus..deeellishhhh
Sooo I still haven’t unpacked..
Yes my carpet is pink..yes it’s from when I was 3 years old..
I’m currently watching Ellen with my mommasita right next to our tree! I promised you guys a better picture!
My mom is making dinner:) So I’ll be sure to share the goods with you tomorrow!
I hope everyone had a great day!
Question for ya!: HAVE YOU TRIED THE COOKIE BUTTER? yes all caps is necessary.
So tuesday’s eats were kind of a fail..and by that I mean I consumed enough sugar to last me the next 2 months
What happened to detoxing after thanksgiving? Sonny’s birthday happened..thats what!
I started off my morning with a Peanut Butter Banana Bread Breakfast Cookie!
it tasted a lot better than it looks I promise! I combined 1/3 cup oats, 1 tbsp vanilla protein powder, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1/2 mashed overly ripe banana, and a splash of almond milk , placed in the fridge overnight and devoured in the morning!
My lunch was broken up into 2 parts
I inhaled a rice cake (not pictured) and cheese string when I got back from class
After a grocery trip run, I split an orange with molly
And a little while later I had some mediterranean quinoa salad over some baby spinach leaves
I’ll post this recipe later today!
And then the sugar coma began..I had one to many licks of cake batter and frosting..eeek
For dinner I kept it light with a bowl of lentil soup (recipe coming soon!)
This also taste a lot better then it looks!
I need to focus on veggie loading these next couple of weeks before more holiday indulgences come around
Oh and look what I found at the grocery store!
SO GOOD! I am obsessed with buffalo anything (especially buffalo chicken dip, that stuff is DEADLY)
And be sure to check out all of the other WIAW posts over on Jenn’s Blog
Question: What was the best thing you’ve eaten recently? Have you tried this sabra hummus flavor out yet?
I’m not sure why, but when I’m at home I can never sleep in, so instead of sleeping this morning, I decided to start my day with a Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout
I know it’s only 30 minutes but holy moly! That women does not mess around
After a much needed shower, I made myself some sunday brunch!
I cooked up 3 egg whites with some goat cheese and cherry tomatoes. Alongside I had a piece of toast with pumpkin butter (YUM) and some raspberries. I was SO full after this breakfast!
Another weird thing about being home..I never crave oatmeal for breakfast! So weird, considering I basically have oatmeal every morning while I’m at school.strange
After breakfast I talked my mom into going to Trader Joes!
I didn’t take a picture of everything we got, but I snapped a pic of some of the highlights
- White bean basil hummus
- 3 layer hummus dip
- Trader Joes creamy peanut butter
- Almond butter
- Caramelized Onion Dip
- Mini Milk chocolate peanut butter cups
- Cornbread Mix
- Multigrain Crackers
- Mini Gingerbread Man (cannot wait to try these!)
- Cranberry Goat Cheese
The Saturday after thanksgiving we are having a reunion type party for all my friends from high school and their parents. A lot of these buys we plan on saving to put out at the party!
After I came home, I decided to bake a batch of cookies for my mom to bring to the hospital with her tomorrow. A family member of mine has been undergoing cancer treatment, and has his last treatment tomorrow! Everything has gone well so far, so thankfully no bad news to report! I baked a batch of cookies for my mom to bring to nurses at the hospital as a thank you
I made Peanut butter cookies filled with mini peanut butter cups (the ones I bought from Trader Joes) and milk chocolate chips! I hope they taste as good as they look! I’ll post the recipe soon!
I’m not sure what I plan on doing for the rest of the day, but I am getting a little antsy! I have a really hard time sitting still, so I’m just trying to figure out what to do to keep myself entertained. I know I sound like a toddler, but I get bored so easily!
I’m not use to having so much free time to just do nothing! I’m planning on meeting up with some of my friends later so until then I guess I’ll just play a million rounds of fetch with Duke and drive myself crazy
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!
Do you like Trader Joes? What are some of your favorite Trader Joe products?
Do you get bored easily? Or do you like having a lot of free time?
Ever have those mornings where you don’t want to get out of bed because of EVERYTHING you have to do that day? Well ya today was one of those days..But you know what helped to get me RIGHT out of bed..
Classic overnight oats with pumpkin granola on top and some maple syrup. literally the best breakfast in the entire world. I wish I had an abundance of empty nut butter jars..
But then again at the store today I bought a jar of this, so I should have an another empty one within..umm a couple days
So after I took my time enjoying my breakfast and reading blogs, I went to barns and noble to study for my Econ exam tomorrow (GAHH FREAKING OUT ABOUT IT) for like..3 hours.
Then I went grocery shopping
Then I had a voice lesson!!! It was pretty awesome, I haven’t actually sang since high school, so I was nervous but it went well!
Then I went to calorie killer at the gym
Then I came home and made Vegetarian Butternut Squash Jumbalaya following this recipe
I had this bowl x 2 ..Now its time to go study for Econ more until I drive myself insane!
I hope everyone had a great day!
